Testimonial and Thank You, April 2012Hi my name is Vivienne Chaya Frank, I’m in my 40’s and I live in Far Rockaway with my husband and 4 kids ba”h ages 17-22. My oldest son is learning in the Mir in Yerushalayim, and this year instead of bringing him home for Pesach we decided to spend Pesach with him instead, along with 4 other members of my extended family. We rented a large furnished apartment for the 10 of us near the Mir, and then everyone starting asking me “What are you going to do about the food?” After all, as we all know, Pesach is all about food. With only one suitcase per person allowed on the airplane, I wasn’t going to start schlepping food from home. Besides, having to kasher my kitchen for Pesach and make everything from scratch would have been the opposite of a vacation. The alternative, having to make Pesach from scratch in a strange apartment kitchen I’d never seen before, seemed way too overwhelming. That’s when I discovered the best kept secret in Yerushalayim – Exclusive Kosher Catering by Tehila Frankel. From the moment I first called her on her convenient DSL American number, Tehila and her husband (a Mir avreich who is her business partner) were an absolute pleasure to work with! She had an unbelievably varied menu, an impeccable hechsher (she uses no kitniyot and no gebrochts so everyone can enjoy), fantastic prices, and unlimited patience! She spent a long time on the phone planning menus with me and advising me on how much I would need to serve 10 hungry adults. She provided reasonably priced convenient delivery to the door, and everything was either fresh or frozen, in disposable foil pans or plastic containers, ready to heat and serve - including mains, sides, desserts, soups, and even a seder plate! I’m told that during the year she offers even more variety than on Pesach, which is hard to imagine since there was so much to choose from on the Pesach menu. When I told my friends how much it cost, they couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was to be like a guest at my own table! Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious! Everyone wanted second helpings of everything, without exception! I got wonderful compliments at every meal: • “Mmmm, this is delicious!” • “I’ve never had Pesach food that tasted this good” • “It tastes too good to be Pesachdik” • “I hope we’re having this again at another meal” • “Is there any more….?” • “This is much better than a Pesach hotel” Even my pickiest eater cleaned his plate at every meal, and especially enjoyed the kugels! Besides the incredible vanishing potato kugels, which I served at every meal, the sweet potato pecan pie and the many different types of apple kugels were a huge hit! My family loves Israel, but we are accustomed to, and prefer, American-style food, and that’s exactly what we got. As Tehila predicted during our telephone planning session, I had nothing left over and no regrets, except that maybe I should’ve ordered more of everything! The truth is, I was a real queen this Pesach – Tehila did all the work for me. Compared to going to a hotel, we had many advantages. We were able to save money, have the seder privately as a family, and enjoy the space and privacy of an apartment rather than a cramped hotel room. I have to admit my own fault to tell you about the next part – when I ordered the maror, I forgot to mention that we use Romaine lettuce. The Frankels, who had sent grated horseradish, graciously exchanged it for checked lettuce – enough for 2 seders - on Erev Pesach, at no extra charge, without making me feel bad, even though it was my mistake. I couldn’t believe the fantastic level of service we received – and always with a smile, even at the most pressured time of the year! So, if you are a couple or family, planning to stay in Israel for Pesach, or any time of the year, and you would prefer an apartment to a hotel, the smart way to do it is to contact Exclusive Kosher Catering: Her email is atfrankel1@gmail.com and her American phone nr (on Israel time) is 845-364-7164 This is an unsolicited, unbiased, and unpaid for testimonial –I just enjoyed Pesach so much that I had to share it with you!
